Born, raised and educated in Shanghai, Leon Hou is a typical representative of the city of Shanghai, an oriental metropolis reflecting both the contemporary history of China for the last 100+ years and the remarkable result from the country’s fast development in the recent 30 years under its “opening door and reform” policy.
Leon started his professional career in Tax Services in one of the Big 5 accounting firms more than a decade ago, where he trained to be a tax advisor and accountant. Specialising in China tax, Leon has also worked for another Big 5 accounting firm and a world leading trust company in China before recently joining Moore Stephens International Limited and becoming MSIL’s representative for the China region.
With his expertise gained from advising a great number of multinational clients (including companies from the US, Europe, Japan and Australia) to investing and setting up in China, Leon will be helping the Moore Stephens International member firms to better cope with their client enquiries and service requests in China. Leon is passionate about bringing more to Moore Stephens China and his experience with a wide range of client cases across different business sectors and industries (including manufacturing, trading, procurement, education, service, agency, etc.) will be invaluable.
“Everyone knows China is important nowadays, and almost every big Moore Stephens International member firm receives client enquiries about their China related business or service from time to time or requests from their clients asking for audit, accountancy, tax or other professional services delivery for their China subsidiaries, companies or offices in China.” Leon says. “I hope my arrival at MSIL and my presence based in MSIL’s Shanghai office, which is to be officially opened by the end of 2011, will bridge the culture, language and professional boundary between our member firms from overseas and the massive business and service opportunities within China. I also hope to be able to open a gateway to the great Moore Stephens International network outside China for our Moore Stephens China offices with ambition to develop international business in the years to come.”
Outside of the office, Leon enjoys his personal life with his wife and his young son and is also a big fan of sports
